Lieutenant Alex Dellva was born and raised in Glenview, Illinois. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder. A member of the CU NROTC Unit, he commissioned upon graduation. LT Dellva reported to Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Charleston, South Carolina in September 2014. After his time at NNPTC, he attended Submarine Officer Basic Course in Groton, Connecticut. LT Dellva then finished his nuclear power training at Naval Nuclear Power Training Unit in Charleston, South Carolina. In June 2016, LT Dellva reported to USS LOUISIANA (SSBN 743), an Ohio class ballistic missile submarine, homeported in Bangor, Washington. On the LOUISIANA, he completed six Strategic Deterrent Patrols. LT Dellva’s responsibilities included being the Electrical Assistant, Damage Control Assistant, Tactical Systems Officer, Assistant Weapons Officer, Dry-docking Officer, and Ship’s Diving Officer. In June 2019, Lieutenant Dellva reported to NROTC Los Angeles Consortium, UCLA as a Submarine Officer Instructor. LT Dellva’s awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and various unit awards.
